About Our Team
And Our Values
Chief Executive Officer
Scott is the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Lotus Income. He oversees the company's high-level deliverables, including keeping company milestones in line with its vision and mission. Scott is also responsible for maintaining the company's foundational pillars, strengthening partnerships with distribution channels and associations, as well as with referral partners - those who truly align with Lotus Income's values.
Scott brings over 35 years of experience to Lotus Income, having worked with some of Canada's largest financial services companies, such as Canada Life, The Co-operators, and Heritage Education Funds. He began his career in sales and marketing, elevating into executive roles, including Chairman of Heritage Education Funds (2004 - 2017), overseeing the management of assets of over $2.7 billion.
Scott is also involved in the Toronto and York Region communities, having served as co-Chair on a York Region School Council. In addition he is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors for Healthy Start, Healthy Future (www.hshf.org), an initiative that has helped over 170,000 Canadians by providing on-going support for new and expectant parents. In line with his drive to help Canadian families, Scott believes that reverse mortgages (equity releases) are one of the best financial options for inter-generational families to maximize their well-being at different stages of life.
Brian Robertson, PhD
Client Service (Mortgage Agent)
Brian is Lotus Income's Client Service expert, and makes sure the company serves the right clients in the right way. Aside from his active role in serving the company's clients, Brian also oversees the execution of Lotus Income's vision and mission. In managing the company's day-to-day operations, Brian pays particular attention to the company's stakeholders - clients, referral partners, and lenders - making sure they are served in a timely manner that exceeds their expectations.
An accredited Doctor of Economics, Brian performs ongoing research into Canadian mortgage and real-estate market developments. He believes in ongoing education not only for Lotus Income's employees, but also for its customers and business partners. Because of heightened uncertainty around interest rates and consumer debt reaching unprecedented levels among seniors, Brian believes that more and more Canadian homeowners, aged 55 and up, will see the immediate value of remaining in their homes and offsetting any financial needs by using their homes' excess equity.
Brian has a 17-year business and management background with major companies such as IBM and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), as well holding numerous positions in start-ups and joint-ventures, where he honed his skills in brokering, sales, and business development. Brian believes that a successful company is one that embraces the "triple-bottom line," that is, one that embraces the needs of specific communities, the environment, and civil society.
Chief Technology Officer
A real-estate investor himself, Philip (Phil) brings over 35 years of financial services experience to Lotus Income as its Chief Technology Officer. Having worked at companies such as Manulife, JP Morgan, CIBC, and TD Bank (among others), he has occupied roles such as CTO, CIO (Chief Information Officer), and Head of Trading Systems. Phil has also founded, co-founded, invested in, and grown multiple startups such as BetterMarkets and RealityClick.
Phil provides technology leadership to Lotus Income through the decisive use of innovation and implementation. With a background in statistics and econometrics, Phil helps expand Lotus Income's reach to more and more Canadians, especially those that would highly benefit from awareness and knowledge of reverse mortgages and equity releases. Phil is all about scalability. He knows every customer needs to be treated as if he or she were the only customer, and that that kind of customer experience can only be delivered through ongoing improvement and constant feedback from the company's many stakeholders.
Phil's contributions to Canadians is extensive and ongoing. A hockey and soccer coach in North Toronto (ages 7 - 17), as well as a boxer for Variety Village fundraising matches, Phil is continually involved in local community activities and fundraising (such as the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Heart Association of Ontario). Lotus Income's CTO rode 200km in the Ride to Conquer Cancer fundraising initiative, and co-founded an NGO (Students Crossing Borders) that provides education and advancement opportunities in Kingston, Jamaica, and other developing countries.
